Mount Hope News

Mount Hope authors have been recognized for their work in two prestigious lists.

Best American Short Stories 2023 has recognized "The Other Side" by Ilya Leybovitch, published in January 2022, in its list of 100 "Distinguished Stories of 2022."

Best American Essays 2023 has recognized Jax Connelly's "Three Returns: A Time-Travel Story," published in November 2022, as a "Notable Essay of 2022."

Previously: Best American Essays 2022 has cited "Home Places: A Primer," by William Woolfitt, as a "Notable Essay of 2021." The piece ran in Mount Hope, Fall 2021.

      This is the seventh such honor for a Mount Hope author in the past eight years.

      Previously, Best American Essays 2021 cited Mount Hope author Amy Amoroso in its list of  "Notable Essays of 2020": "My American Dream" was the author's second such recognition (Cut Wide Open," Mount Hope, Fall 2013).

      In 2020, Best American Essays 2020 cited Mount Hope in its list of "Notable Essays of 2019" for "About Boredom," by Cicily Bennion, and "Life Is An Island," by Don Lago. In 2019, Best American Essays 2019 cited Mount Hope in its list of "Notable Essays of 2018" for "Down to the Marrow of Our Bones," by Kirtan Nautiyal, MD.
