Gene Christy Publishes First Novel

Congratulations to Mount Hope author Gene Christy, whose first published a short story, "The Bog and The Tractor," appeared in our Fall 2018 issue. Now his first novel, Arrivederci, New York, has just been accepted by Adelaide Books. It will be published in 2020.

Murli Melwani Publishes Short Story Collection

Mount Hope author Murli Melwani, recently had his collection of short stories, Ladders Against The Sky, was published by Kaziranga Books in 2018.


Honorable Mention in

Best American Essays 2018

Best American Essays 2018, Mount Hope is cited in the list of "Notable Essays of 2017" for "Passion," by Peter Grandbois. Peter is a professor of Narrative Nonfiction at Denison University; the essay explores his passion for the sport of fencing.


The list puts us in the company of such publications as The New Yorker, Harper's, The American Scholar and many other top literary journals such as Ploughshares and The Paris Review as well as many smaller ones such as our own. 


This is the second time Mount Hope has been cited in this list: The essay "Cut Wide Open," by Amy Amaroso, MD, in which she recounted her surgical residency, was cited as a "notable" in Best American Essays 2015.

Jim Kroschell Receives Maine's John N. Cole Award

Mount Hope Author, Jim Kroschell’s book, One Man's Maine: Essays on a Love Affair was given the John N. Cole Award from the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance.
